On A Lighter Note

Mindy and I went through some of our old toys today. My Dad got down some boxes that were in the garage. Inside we found our cabbage patch dolls, Barbie dolls, sticker books, My Little Pony stuff and some of our baby clothes. What a blast from the past. It's funny how you can forget things, then seeing something triggers your memory.

FRUSTRATED!

Finally, Girl Scout cookie sales are done! We just finished our last cookie booth yesterday. I'm so glad! I'm so tired of it! It won't bug me to see another box until next year! I think it's safe to say Marissa feels the same way. She got grounded yesterday for misbehaving at the booth sale. I felt really bad though because I know she didn't want to go. She has been to every single cookie booth sale this year. Which is all weekend long for almost a month. Yesterday just did her in, the booth was four hours long. Which was way to long! I was tired of it, so I know she had to be. If there would have been another girl signed up I would have let her stay home. That was the problem though! It's very frustrating to me that parents want there children involved with activities like scouts or sports, but, there not willing to volunteer. Asking is like pulling there eye teeth out. They sure can put in there two cents when they want to though! I don't get it! Parents, wake up and be involved in your childrens lives!!!!!!!!!!! I don't know how long I will continue to be a leader. I try and tell myself it's for the girls. But, when my daughter's miserable, Is it really worth it? I ask myself if I don't do it then who will? I know the answer, and it's nobody!! I don't want to let the girls down. So, I find myself hanging on by a thin thread.

Spring Break!

Finally it's here!! Spring Break! No work, no school and no commitments for nine days!! Yea! We don't have any big plans other than just hanging around here. Dan's off for his long change which is one week. Which is a nice plus. It finally felt like spring today it got up to a whopping 63 degrees. I definitely tore out my capris and sandals! I say bring it on. I'm ready!!!
Marissa got out of school today at 12:15. She is so excited to have a break also. I think we are going to go sign her up for swim classes next week. She loves being in the water, It's one of her favorite things to do. She's good at it to.

My late night thoughts

Why do the weekends go by so fast? Friday night we had dad's night at work, we had a great time. Saturday we had cookie booth sales all day then bunco that night and today we went and saw Shaggy dog the movie and helped Marissa clean her room and that pretty much somes up my weekend. I didn't work on my homework all weekend so I'm still awake working on it. I have to do a presentation on a book this Wednesday. I'm searching for clip art for props for my story. I'm presenting What A Wonderful Life. It's suppose to be a multicultural book and I think this book would be great. I love the song! I'm so excited for spring break, one more week!! A whole week with nothing to do! YEA!! I'm even more excited for summer to be here! Long lazy days. We are selling our 5th wheel and buying a new travel trailer. We are going to hopefully buy it next month. We are going to take a two week vacation and just go! We don't no where yet. The plan is just to get out of dodge! We are looking in to going on a family vacation in August. We are throwing the idea around of going on a Disney cruise. I think it sounds relaxing. Isn't the Caribbean always relaxing though?? It's so hard to think about summer with snow still on the ground. Isn't the first day of spring tomorrow? It still feels like December! What is going on? Well, I need to go to sleep. If I don't I'm going to drag butt all day tomorrow!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARISSA!

Marissa's eighth birthday was on Saturday. How time flies bye. Here's a couple of pictures from her party. This one is of her getting ready to cut the cake. For her birthday she had a pizza party and a sleepover. She had a great time. We caved in and got her a guinea pig for her birthday. I'm still unsure about it. She loves it though! His name is Buddy. I'll have to take some pictures to post. I had to put up a picture of the cake. I made it, it took me forever! It turned out cute though and Marissa loved it.

Busy Weekend Ahead!!

Marissa's Birthday is on Saturday. I guess it would be considered tomorrow now. I just looked at the clock. I've been keeping busy getting ready for it. She's having her party at a pizza place and she's having a sleepover afterwards with her friends. She's so excited! I'm so very thrilled about it to. It's just what I'm looking forward to, eight girls running around the house screaming! Marissa wants a guinea pig for her Birthday and we told her no way! (which was my first reaction) But, we ended up getting her one anyways. That's all she asked for this year. Her friend down the street has one and she loves it. We bought it last Friday and keep it at the pet store. She's going to be sooo excited when she gets it! She stayed home today from school because she isn't feeling well. I hope she feels better tomorrow. Well, I need to turn in. I've got a very busy day tomorrow. I'm making the cake and I have another math test(that I'm so unprepared for) Wish me luck!!

White Out

The chance of rain today was 30% with mixed snow and thunder. I heard on the radio this morning that it was just going to pass us by and that we shouldn't see much of the storm. We were in a rain/snow advisory (I'm still not sure which) until noon today. Well, around 2:30 this afternoon we got the biggest snow storm of the year! It was a complete white out. It knocked out part of the towns electricity. We were getting ready to leave for town when the storm hit. I had to go take a math test that I was totally unprepared for and Dan was taking Marissa to dance class. I was just at the point of getting so overwhelmed when the phone rang. It was the dance studio telling us that they had no electricity. Then right when I hung the phone up, it started to ring again and it was my sister telling me the power went out at the college to. The only part of town that lost power is were we need to go. So, we get to play hokey! We are staying in for the night! What a nice treat! To top it all off I can study for my test some more! WA-WHO!!!

Happy Birthday Dr. Suess!

Happy Birthday Dr. Suess! Did you eat your green eggs and ham? Sam-I-Am? Did you eat them with a fox in box? Did you eat them with a mouse in a house? Sam-I-Am? I will not eat them anywhere said Sam-I-Am. I Will not eat them........ Okay, so I have it a little stuck in my head. That's what happens when you read something over and over all day long. I swear if I don't ever smell or look at green eggs and ham cooking for the rest of my life, I will absolutely be fine with it. The kids loved making and eating it though. It's all worth it when you see them smile!!

Report Card

Marissa got her progress report yesterday. We are so proud of her! She got three A's and two B's. Way to go Marissa!!!! I was so nervous when I looked in her backpack and saw that all to familiar yellow envelope. I pulled the envelope out and stared at it for a moment then I reached inside as my heart sank. I knew whatever I was going to find was going to tell us of her progress, in black and white. I opened the paper and did a double take, then I started to tear up. I called Marissa out to the front room and with a stern voice I said " Are you aware of what is in your backpack?" She looked at me with a puzzled face and said "NO". Then I said "Your report card", "How do you think you did?" I said while holding the paper, with my hands on my hips trying to hold back the tears. She said with a sad face " I don't no!" I couldn't take it anymore and said " MARISSA get over here"!!! She came over not knowing what to expect. I gave her a hug and told her I was so proud of her and told her how well she did. Then she filled me in on how much money we owed her for getting good grades. I laughed then thought to myself , Why is it children can remember things like that but can't remember when we tell them to do something like clean their room or pick up their dirty clothes or dirty dishes. It's a mystery! ( Yea, right!!!) Then we called Grandma and Pa-Pa to tell them the exciting news. They where proud of her too.
